Well I am certainly glad I didn't pay to see Transformers Age of
Extinction in theater or waste my time going to and from the theater,
because Age of Extinction definitely wouldn't have been worth it. I will
be honest I did enjoy Michael Bay's first three takes on the
Transformers franchise, but action from one film to the other just looks
to repetitive and similar, and the writing especially for the human
characters is just plain terrible, and I'm a Michael Bay defender.
Now to be fair to Michael Bay his fourth installment in the
Transformers franchise wasn't terrible, but it was his worst
Transformers film to date. There were a few thing I enjoyed about the
film. The biggest was the character Lockdown as he stole the entire
film. Lockdown was just badass and awesome. I'd love film just about
him. I also loved the idea that Transformers were created, but another
alien race, and I would have like more of that instead of wasting my
time with uninteresting and appealing human characters outside of the
standard eye candy in Nicola Peltz and Sophia Myles. I also did enjoy
the new Autobots in Drift, Crosshairs, and Hound voiced by Ken Watanabe,
John Goodman, and John DiMaggio. Unfortunately that was far from enough
to make Transformers Age of Extinction a good film especially when you
add in the horribly done Grimlock and Dinobots. Man was I disappointed
with that.
Overall I'd give the Age of Extinction 2.5/5 stars,
and I'm think I'm being just a little kind since I didn't have to waste
time or money seeing the film in the theater. I'm glad I didn't and
won't see the next Transformers film in theater whenever it comes out.
